The project began as a team concept, with the focus being on creating ways that people who aren’t musically trained could create music in their everyday lives.
The onset of COVID-19 restrictions meant that team work was no longer possible, and each team member developed separate concepts around the central theme. I chose to focus on using weights to influence music, with the intention that it would be used to help children learn about fractions and proportionality.
Following feedback, it became clear that the concept did not achieve what it was setting out to do, and the scope was changed to focus on helping children learn about musical rhythm directly. This has lead to the current version of the prototype.
